If you choose a cloud AI provider, Beagle stops before the first transmission and shows a disclosure. Nothing is sent until you accept it.
Mac only. AI features are part of the Mac app. The iPhone and Apple Watch apps have no AI surface.
#Why the gate exists
Choosing an external provider is a decision about client confidentiality, so Beagle makes you make it deliberately rather than discovering it later. The disclosure marks the boundary between AI running on your own machine and AI running on someone else's.
#What accepting it means
Accepting the disclosure means that, for operations you run against that provider:
- the prompt and its supporting content are transmitted to that company;
- that content may include matter material you have chosen to bring into the operation;
- the transmission uses your own API key, so the work happens under your account and your agreement with that provider;
- how that provider stores, retains, or processes the content is governed by their terms, not by Beagle.
Accepting it does not turn on anything else. It does not change what AI is allowed to write into your records — output stays advisory either way — and it does not send anything on a schedule or in the background.
#If you do not accept it
Nothing is transmitted. You can keep using Beagle normally, and you can still use AI features by configuring a local provider instead.
#Changing your mind
Change providers in Settings → AI. Selecting a local provider means later operations run on your own machine. Removing a stored API key stops Beagle using that provider at all.
Content already sent to a provider has been received by them; changing the setting afterwards cannot recall it. If that matters for a specific matter, treat the decision as you would any other disclosure to a third-party service.
#What to watch for
- The disclosure is per-configuration, not per-prompt. Once accepted for a provider, later operations against it do not stop to ask again. Check which provider is selected before running AI over sensitive material.
- Your obligations do not move. Confidentiality and any duty to obtain client consent before using a third-party service remain yours to assess.
